Meet Amanda
A photographer in Indianapolis
Hello, I am Amanda Duncan and I have been in the photography business since 2010. I love watching life unfold between couples, newlyweds, and eventually, their growing families! I love to travel the world and I have photographed weddings and families all over the surrounding areas of my home and around the country, but I call Indianapolis my home. I am the wife to an incredibly supportive husband and the mom of three boys – twin teenagers and a pre-teen and we have an awesome dog named Jango (after Jango Fett, we are a Star Wars family!)
My love of photography started out as a hobby early in life as I watched and learned from my Dad as he would capture my childhood memories in the most meaningful photographs. From there I took a few photography classes as electives while I studied video and audio production at Ball State University. After my youngest son was born, I decided to take a step back from working full-time in order to be more present for my family. This was during the time when all of the big box stores still had studio sessions and let me tell you, taking twin five-year-olds and a newborn to a dark sweaty studio with a fifteen-minute time limit was, to put it lightly, just the worst. This gave me inspiration to photograph anyone I could get in front of my camera and thanks to my supportive friends and family, I was able to take a deep dive into my love of photography and my vision for the future.
When I’m not working with clients, you can find me snuggled up at home in comfy clothes, cup of coffee in hand, most likely watching Marvel or Star Wars movies and having some fun with my family. I also love romantic comedies (when I’m able to snag the remote from the kids!). I love watching sports and cracking open a cold one while watching college basketball or getting together in front of the TV to watch the Cubs or Colts play. Unfortunately, due to my clumsiness, playing sports was never really a good idea for me, though I do love a good workout (followed by tacos and cookies, of course). I’m a big fan of long drives so I can listen to my favorite audiobooks and podcasts. I’m a solid Enneagram Nine if you’re into that sort of thing. I fall true to the stereotype, I am a professional napper.
